This post is all about the best skincare tips for summer.
Summer is almost here everyone, so it’s time to get our skincare routines on point and follow this list of skincare tips for summer I swear by as a holistic esthetician.
As a very pale person, I used to get kind of afraid of summer. I would avoid the sun at all costs. If I did have to go outside, I would cover myself up like a mummy.
The only time I felt free and enjoyed summer was at the beach, but even with sunscreen, I would burn like crazy and harm my poor skin!
Now that I’m older and a lot wiser, I follow these skincare tips below so that every summer my skin will WORSHIP me instead of hate me.
After you read this post, you are going to be so ready to have the best summer ever without the skin damage!

1) Use Non Toxic SPF
This tip is pretty obvious for the summer, but still worth including! If you’re going to be outside for long periods of time, wear a good non toxic sunscreen to protect your skin from getting burned.
And, yes, it needs to be non toxic! Remember earlier I said I would still burn even after lathering up in sunscreen? That’s because most chemical sunscreens (aka toxic sunscreens) do not block the sun’s rays.
If you’re interested in the technicality of this, check out my posts below where I go more in-depth! I also list sunscreen recommendations there as well:

2) Exfoliate Regularly
You need to be exfoliating your face and body skin 2-3 times a week to keep your skin clear and glowing!
I will list some of my fave facial and body exfoliants below that are gentle enough for summer weather and will not cause sun sensitivity.

3) Use Vitamin C
Did you know vitamin C is a natural sun protectant? It also helps to protect the skin against pollution, stimulate collagen production, and brighten pigmentation. So many great things!
My current fave vitamin c cocktail is the Saint Jane C-Drops and Petal Cream. It’s the perfect summer combo and also contains hyaluronic acid, peptides, and nourishing flower extracts. It’s so good I cannot get enough of this stuff!
4) Cut Out Ultra-Processed Food and Seed Oils
I promise you this is a skincare tip!
Eating junk impacts the way your body communicates with the sun. Most of us are outside a lot in the summertime going to the beach, pool, and other fun outdoor activities.
When you eat ultra processed food and seed oils you increase your risk of getting sunburn and developing skin cancer.
When I cut these things out of my diet, I no longer burned (which is saying a lot because I’m super pale).
I will link this video here of Dr. Paul Saladino explaining the scientific reasoning behind this!
5) Remineralize Your Water
Did you know most water does not have the minerals you need to stay properly hydrated?
If you’re drinking any form of purified water you need to be adding minerals to it. My favorite way to do this is with LMNT unflavored electrolyte packets. I keep some in my purse for when I need them on the go. You only need a little bit, and you can’t even taste it!
You will notice you have more energy and go to the bathroom a lot less. You will also avoid that afternoon slump, and if you’re prone to headaches like I am, you will notice those decrease as well!
6) Eat Your Skincare
Take advantage of seasonal fruit like watermelon and berries because they have tons of hydration and antioxidants that will help keep your skin protected and healthy all summer long!
7) Use Tallow
Tallow has become a big skincare trend and for good reason! It’s noncomedogenic, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and super soothing.
Try putting it on before and after getting some sun. Your skin will look amazing!
