1. Set Goals
If you don’t have some sort of goal you’re working towards, you may feel like what you’re doing is pointless. What are you trying to be healthy for? Set a goal and you’ll be much more motivated to sticking to a healthy lifestyle.
2. Figure Out Your Why
After you set your goal, figure out why you’re doing it. Here is an example of finding your why:
Why do you want to be healthy? Because I want to feel good. Why do you want to feel good? So I can be a better parent. Why do you want to be a better parent. Because I want to be there for my kids. Why do you want to be there for your kids. Because they’re the most important people in the world to me. Why are they the most important people in the world to you? Because they’re my children and I love them more than anything.
Keep asking yourself why and you will find out the true reason why you want to be healthy. This will keep you on track to change your lifestyle to be healthy.
3. Follow Inspiring People
I love to follow podcasts and people on Instagram who are healthy and thriving. It’s inspiring to learn from people who you want to be like. For example, when I first discovered Living Libations, I would listen to every podcast that Nadine Artemis was featured in. Listening to her and learning from her helped me become healthier because she had so much knowledge on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
4. Eat Meat
Yup, that’s right. You gotta eat more meat! Good quality meat like grass-fed beef is some of the most nutritious foods you can eat. incorporating more meat will help you feel fuller longer, limit joint pain, reduce headaches, decrease cravings, stabilize your blood sugar, and so much more.

5. Move
Get up and move. This one can be tough. Sometimes I have to force myself to go for a walk after a long day of sitting at the computer, but it’s so worth it. Without movement, you will never be able to live the healthy lifestyle you want to live! Movement is crucial for keeping your body and mind in a healthy state even if that means walking for half an hour. Anything is better than nothing!
6. Don’t Eat Out
I know, I know this one is really hard for most people, and understandably so! Eating out is a fun way to socialize and try foods you couldn’t make at home; however, most restaurants do not cook with good quality food. It’s also hard to know exactly what’s being done to the food. They’re likely cooking with seed oils and using low-quality meat and seafood. I’ve worked in the food industry and there’s some very nasty things that go on behind the scenes.
It’s best to cook at home because you’re in control of what’s going into your body. You can buy the groceries and cook the food, so there’s no wondering if it’s harmful or not. It’s hard at first but then it’s actually fun to get creative in the kitchen and try new things! I’ve been making homemade ice cream and steaks recently, which is something I never did before! And it’s so satisfying to know that the food is good quality and I know exactly what’s in it.
7. Connect With Nature
Go to the park, swim in the ocean, go for a hike. Nature helps ground us. Studies show that nature has a big affect on our mental state. It helps yo feel calmer, boosts your mood, reduces stress and anger, and much more.
8. Avoid Alcohol
If you’re a big drinker then I know this is going to be a tough one! You can start by limiting your alcohol intake. Instead of drinking every night, drink on the weekends. Instead of drinking every weekend, only drink on special occasions. Eventually, the goal is to stop drinking all together.
Alcohol is toxic plain and simple. It damages the brain and gut and there’s absolutely no benefit to drinking it. That’s why it’s important to quit drinking and find other alternatives that you can enjoy just as much!
9. Ditch The Caffeine
I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes by now and that’s okay! I used to drink coffee and other caffeinated drinks every single day, so I get it. Just like alcohol, caffeine does not have any benefit to the body.
Even if you drink a cup of coffee in the morning when you wake up, it actually takes about 10 hours to leave your system. So if you’re drinking coffee past 11am, you will have caffeine in your body until 9pm, which is when you need to be winding down for bed.
Caffeine can contribute to:
- Joint Pain
- Brain Fog
- Muscle Soreness
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Interrupted sleep
- Dehydration
- Digestive Issues
- Fatigue
- Rapid heart rate
10. Find A Hobby You Love
Doing something you love is so good for your mental health. It’s a way to detress and turn your mind off from things like work, chores, and other daily demands. It can also be a great way to socialze and connect with others.
One of my favorite hobbies is swimming at the beach. My boyfriend’s favorite hobby is fishing. This works out perfectly because he fishes while I swim! It’s a great activity that I look forward to doing every weekend and we get to spend some nice quality time together:)

11. Stay Open and Continue Learning
Nobody’s perfect. We can only be the best we can be with what we know right now. Who knows what will change in the future. It’s important to keep an open mind and always learn.
I went from being vegan thinking that was healthy to completely animal-based just a year later. If I could go back and tell myself I was going to be eating meat 3 meals a day I would have been in disbelief!
We live and we learn. As long as you are growing and striving to be the best you can be, then you’re doing an amazing job😊
