This might trigger some of you—these bad health habits don’t seem so bad to most people, but it’s time to take a closer look.
If you’re anything like how I used to be, you might think these bad health habits aren’t bad at all. They’re actually good!
I used to think this way until I finally woke up. It’s time to take a closer look at these habits that are being sold to us as “healthy.”
I know many people will disagree with this list of bad health habits, and that’s fine by me because I’m not here for close-minded people. I’m here to educate curious and open-minded people.
So if you’re ready to question everything, then welcome! I’m seriously so happy you’re here.😊
This post is all about bad health habits you thought were healthy.
Surprisingly Bad Health Habits
1. Eating Vegetables
You’re always told to eat your vegetables, and yes, vegetables are way better than candy, chips, and other processed foods, but they’re not as healthy as they’re made out to be.
Vegetables do have a lot of good nutrients, but the problem is that they are not bioavailable to humans.
What does bioavailable mean?
Bioavailability is you’re body’s ability to absorb nutrients.
Vegetables are not easily absorbed or tolerated by our bodies, which is why many people experience gut issues when they eat vegetables.
Back in the day, before agriculture and industrialization, people hunted and gathered food. Their main source of food was meat!
I guarantee that if you were to put a plate of vegetables and a plate of meat in front of our hunter-gatherer ancestors, they would always choose the meat.
So don’t stress about eating your vegetables. You’re going to be much healthier if you focus on eating animal based, aka meat, fruit, eggs, dairy, and raw honey.

2. Avoiding Red Meat
It’s one thing to avoid red meat because you don’t like the taste, but avoiding it because you think it’s unhealthy is a common misconception.
I used to think this way, too!
I didn’t eat red meat for years because I thought it was terrible for you. Meanwhile, I was eating Doritos and other processed junk without a care in the world. I was so ignorant until I started to really think about it.
And after doing tons of research, I uncovered the truth that we are being spread misinformation about red meat.
Once you start eating red meat on a consistent basis, you are going to notice so many positive effects:
- More energy
- Mental clarity
- Satiety
- Fewer headaches
- Improved digestion
And so much more!
Red meat is also super accessible and affordable.
A lot of the demonization of red meat comes from weak corelations and bogus studies.
As you might already know, money is the main driver in the food industry. Kellog’s doesn’t want you to eat red meat thinking it is better than their products, so they use money to bribe science to say red meat causes cancer, inflammation, etc.
So go enjoy some red meat guilt-free, knowing that it’s one of the best foods you can put in your body!
3. Eating Nuts, Grains, Beans, and Seeds
If you’re eating nuts, grains, beans, and seeds and are thriving, then keep doing what you’re doing, but if you’re struggling with your health, then you might be surprised by what I have to say next.
These foods conains many defense checmials that are toxic to humans.
I actually love beans, but I noticed whenever I ate them I would have extreme bloating and diarrhea.
People always joke that beans mak you poop and fart, but think about it… that is your body’s way of expelling toxins!
So if you’re having trouble with your digestion or other health symptoms that you can’t understand what the cause is, try eliminating these foods from your diet and see if you feel better.
4. Drinking Too Much Water
Water is so important, and we should be drinking plenty of water, but the type of water we drink matters way more than how much we’re drinking.
Mineral water from a spring or reverse osmosis water with a little Redmond’s Real salt is the best water to drink to stay properly hydrated.
You should also drink water intuitively. Do not force yourself to drink a gallon a day if that’s not water your body is asking for.
Water is not the only way to stay properly hydrated. You can drink milk, fresh juice, or tea that is just as hydrating, if not more hydrating, than water.
You also want to make sure you’re drinking the majority of your water during the first 10 hours of the day when your kidneys are most efficient.
If you get really thirsty before bed and feel like you need to chug a bunch of water, you definitely did not get proper hydration during the day.
Aim for about 77 ounces of water a day through food and fluids you’re consuming during the day.
5. Avoiding The Sun
I used to avoid the sun like I was a vampire because we’re taught that it’s cancerous and one of the most harmful things on the planet.
And I believed this lie for a long time!
But then I started doing my own research and really thinking about it.
Humans have been living in the sun for millions of years. They did not always have sunscreen, and they did not always work indoors like most of us do now.
I started using my common sense and realized the sun is not the problem.
Think about it.
How do you feel when you go outside? How does it feel when the sun hits your skin?
My family and I would go to the beach every summer in the Outer Banks. Those are my happiest memories. And I realized part of it is because I was outside all day in the sun, enjoying nature.
My cousins and I would lie in the hot sand and feel the sun’s rays shining down on us. It’s the best feeling in the world.
So how could the sun be the enemy?
It’s not.
The enemy is our lifestyles of eating junk food and being cooped up indoors, so when we finally do go outside, we get burned because our bodies are not adapted to being outside in the sun anymore.
When you clean up your diet and enjoy the sun in moderation, you will no longer get burned and you will actually DECREASE your likelihood of developing skin cancer.
6. Wearing SPF Daily
Another controversial health habit I used to believe in is wearing SPF every day, even if you aren’t in the sun.
We’re bombarded with the notion that you must wear sunscreen at all times, even indoors.
Everyone makes it seem like if you don’t wear sunscreen, you’re skin will burn up when coming into contact with the sun.
So I wore sunscreen every day, thinking I was doing the right thing.
Then I went to esthetics school, where they instilled more fear of the sun and that we should be wearing sunscreen every day and reapplying multiple times a day.
I thought that sounded extreme, but I listened.
Then I noticed my pigmentation and rosacea getting worse. I didn’t understand because I thought sunscreen was protecting my skin from these conditions.
Then I started doing my own research and uncovering the truth that sunscreen is B.S. What we eat matters way more than sunscreen.
When we eat real foods from nature, like the animal based diet, our body can defend itself from the sun without sunscreen, which by the way, contains tons of harmful chemicals.
You should still wear a hat and cover yourself up if you’re going to be outside for hours, but you don’t need to wear SPF daily if you’re spending the majority of your time indoors.
I do have a whole post where I recommend incredible non toxic sunscreen brands if you still want to wear sunscreen! These are going to be much better than slatherring yourself with harmful chemicals:

7. Only Eating Egg Whites
I don’t hear people do this as much anymore, but I know a lot of people still do not eat egg yolks because they were demonized by their cholesterol content.
I could write a whole post about cholesterol, and I will, but for now, all you need to know is egg yolks are super nutritious for humans!
Cholesterol in whole foods like eggs and meat is not the issue. Your body actually needs that cholesterol for good brain and hormone health.
Egg yolks also contains so many essential vitamins and nutrients like:
- Vitamins D, E, A, and K
- B vitamins
- Anitoxidants
- Omega 3s
- Folate
- Choline
- Calcium
- Phosphorus
- Zinc
- Selenium
- Protein
These are all such great nutrients that our body will be able to easily absorb because eggs are so bioavailable to humans.
So get rid of that lie sold to you about egg yolks being bad for you and start eating your eggs whole again!
