Want to know why you need to ditch the bra? These are the 3 big reasons why women should go braless.
Deciding to ditch the bra is one of the best things you can do for your breasts and overall health. If you’re like me, you may think that one of the best feelings in the world is when you come home after a long day and take off your bra. Well, imagine feeling like that all the time!
You are going to learn why you should ditch the bra, benefits of not wearing a bra, and does not wearing a bra cause sagging.
After reading this post, you’re going to want to get rid of all your bras and embrace the no bra lifestyle!
This post is all about why women need to ditch the bra.
Ditch The Bra
Women are taught from a young age that we have to wear a bra. It’s “polite” and “proper” for women to wear bras.
I’ve come to the decision that I don’t care about being polite if it’s at the expense of my health.
Here are the 3 big reasons to get rid of your bras:
1. They Decrease Circulation
Keeping our breasts confined in a bra all day reduces blood and oxygen flow to the chest and back muscles. This can contribute to a sore, aching chest and back.
2. They Cut Off Lymph Flow
Bras cut off lymph flow, which causes toxins to accumulate and remain stagnant in the lymphatic vessels of our breasts. Breasts need to move freely in order to move lymph into the armpits so it can drain into the bloodstream to release toxins.

3. They Make Your Boobs Sag
When I was younger I was told that if I didn’t wear a bra, my breasts would become saggy. This is actually the complete opposite of what happens.
Bras prevent muscle engagement. This causes breasts to sag and it also causes muscle atrophy.
Think about if you’ve ever broken a bone or had an injury where you needed to wear a cast or sling. After a while, you lose muscle and you need to do physical therapy to restrengthen the muscles and ligaments.
Bras are like casts. When women are constantly wearing bras, the ligaments and pectoral muscles get weak and cannot hold the breasts up easily on their own.
Women are trapping their breasts in these bras, preventing them from moving, breathing, and flowing. This is unnatural and causes damage.
The Benefits of Going Braless:
- More comfortable
- Better lift and shape to breasts
- Better circulation
- Better lymph flow
- Better breast skin health
- Less neck, shoulder, and back tension
- Save money from not having to buy bras anymore
Bra Alternatives
I understand there are people out there who need some type of support and can’t just wear nothing under their shirts. There are also some people who may not feel totally comfortable going completely bare. So here are my recommendations for bra alternatives so that you still feel like your best self without compromising your health!
Nipple Covers
Nipple covers are great for days you’re wearing a white shirt, or your top is a little see-through. Or maybe you just don’t want any chance of your nipples showing. Whatever the case, I love nipple covers like these. They come in 5 different colors to match all different skin tones. They are silicone and stay on all day. Trust me, I’ve been living in Florida for the past 6 months, so these things have passed the sweat test. If you take good care of them, they will last for a very long time. I’ve had mine for 2 years and they’re still going strong.
Camisoles
Camisoles can be great to offer a little support and an extra layer! Pact has really comfortable, environmentally friendly organic cotton clothing, including camisoles. I always buy my pjs, underwear, and sock from them because they’re just so comfy!
Organic No Underwire Bra
If you still want to wear a bra, just make sure it doesn’t have an underwire and it’s not tight. A bra is too tight when you notice red marks after taking it off. That means it’s cutting off circulation and preventing blood and lymph flow.
Finding a blend of organic cotton and elastane is great because the bra will be slightly stretchy, supportive, breathable, and durable.
Again, I recommend Pact because of how comfy, soft, and sustainable they are!
Breast Massage
Another great way to make sure your breasts are healthy is by massaging them. You can check out my post on lymphatic breast massage to learn how to massage your breasts easily at home!
