This post is all about the best holistic skin care tips I recommend as a holistic esthetician.
As a holistic esthetician and skincare enthusiast, I know the beauty world is overhwelming and confusing. There’s so much advice out there. It shocks me that a lot of this advice comes from people who have never even done their research. It’s mostly tik tokers who say “this is good” and “this is bad.” And people listen to them!
I’ve always been one to do lots and lots of research on a topic before I share it wil you all. I want to make sure my sources are good and the information I’m telling you is accurate. I’m also a huge believer in being a guinea pig. I try out so many things on myself to make sure I love it and it works.
With all that being said, I wanted to give you all some of the best skin care tips I can offer so you can feel good knowing you are taking great care of your skin.
This post is all about my favorite holistic skin care tips I recommend as a holistic esthetician.

1. Embrace the Sun
The sun is not our enemy even though society tells us it is. The sun is our life force. Without it we would not exist, so why do we fear it?
Of course we can’t be laying out for hours a day, but we also do not need to act like vampires and avoid it at all costs. There needs to be a healthy balance.
I recommend getting sun in the morning or evening when the UV index is low. If you are going to be outside for hours, wear a hat and use non toxic sunscreen. I will list my favorites below:
2. Facial Reflexology
Facial reflexology targets the nervous system to help you relax and aid in your body’s natural healing process.
It’s best to do facial reflexology every day for maximum benefit. I’ve been practicing facial reflexology every day for over two years now and it’s changed my life.
I learned facial reflexology from Jackie Van Ruler. She has her own website and YouTube channel where she posts tons of tutorials on how to use facial reflexology for different purposes, such as digestion, acne, PMS, and so much more. I highly recommend you check her out.
Once you start practicing facial reflexology you’ll never want to stop!
3. Gua Sha
Gua sha is one of my favorite tools as an esthetician. It’s so healing and nurturing.
I go in-depth on which tool I use and why in this post here, so I recommend you check it out.
I also post tips and tutorials on my Instagram if you need help knowing where to start!
I know it can be confusing at first, but you will get the hang of it quickly! Just go slow, follow your intuition, and try not to overthink it.
Even just 5 minutes a day will do wonders.

4. Facial Massage
On days I don’t do gua sha, I usually do a facial massage to bring some form of movement to my neck and face.
Remember movement is key to healthy skin!
I like following massage tutorials from Ksenija Selivanova, a beauty therapist based in the UK. She always has great massage tutorials that are simple and effective. Check them out here.
5. Oil Cleansing
Okay this is my absolute favorite holistic skincare habit.
I oil cleanse morning and night with Living Libations Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever. If you start doing this one simple skincare habit, your skin is going to improve dramatically.
Traditional oil cleansing is super gentle on the skin but very effective at cleansing. This is because oil attracts oil.
The oil cleanser draws out debris and impurities like a magnet without stripping or harming the skin.
I have a whole post on oil cleansing so you can check out exactly how to do it and why it is so important.

6. Avoid Inflammatory Oils
It’s a shame that oils like canola, vegetable, sunflower, safflower, and corn are used in the majority of our food products.
When you look at ingredients on food packaging, 95% of the time you will see one of those oils listed.
It blows my mind because these oils are terrible for us, but they are in everything. I really try to avoid these oils at all costs, but sometimes, they’re unavoidable, like when you eat at a restaurant.
It’s best to consume grass fed butter, ghee, and beef tallow because these fats will not cause inflammation and disease in the body, unlike seed oils.

7. Filter Your Water
I use a shower filter and I never drink straight from the tap.
It is best to have a whole house water filtration system if you can, but I know that’s pricey.
So if you’re like me and you want an easier, cheaper way to filter your water, I recommend buying a shower filter so that you’re not bathing in heavy metals and toxins.
This will help a lot with reducing acne, eczema, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
8. Go Animal Based
Eating a whole foods diet consisting mainly of grass fed beef, eggs, raw dairy, and organic fruit will do wonders for your skin.
You will notice skin conditions you’ve had your whole life suddenly start to clear up. This includes acne, psoriasis, eczema, and more. Even fine lines and wrinkles will lessen and pigmentation will lighten.
This is because our skin is affected by what we do internally. By eating an animal based diet, your skin will look so good without doing botox or using super expensive serums.

9. Simple Skincare
Skincare should not be a 20-step routine. I always say less is more.
The less we interfere with our skin’s natural ability to heal and protect, the better our skin is going to look.
Most days my skincare consists of oil cleansing, spraying with a hydrating mist, and applying moisturizer. That’s all you really need!
It’s so simple and easy that anyone can do it. It’s also more sustainable because you’re more likely to stick to it and be consistent.
