This ancient ritual is an incredible practice that helps to exfoliate the skin and aid in lymphatic drainage. The best part is that you can do this in the comfort of your own.
It may sound weird to brush your skin but trust me. Once you try it for yourself you will understand why so many people love this simple beauty routine and practice it regularly.
Why Is Dry Brushing Good For You?
It gets the lymph moving. This is important because our lymph system doesn’t have a pump. It relies on the pulses from nearby arteries and the contraction of muscles to keep it flowing.
We need to stimulate our lymphatic system through things like massage, exercise, and dry brushing.

How Do You Dry Brush?
One of the reasons why I love dry brushing is how little time it takes to do it. It takes about 5 minutes at most.
I recommend doing this about once a week right before your shower. After you shower, slather yourself in a really good body oil.
Your skin will feel so soft and smooth, and you will feel invigorated and fresh!
I learned how to dry brush by watching a tutorial from one of my favorite holistic health influencers, Ksenija Selivanova. She has her own Youtube channel where she posts massage tutorials, pilates workouts, and other fun stuff.
This is the video I watched when I first learned how to dry brush my body. She also goes into a body massage at the end as an extra self-care bonus.
Ksenija explains that as she is dry brushing, blood is rushing to the surface of her skin, which helps produce fresh oxygen and stimulate collagen production. Amazing!

What Type Of Dry Brush Should You Use?
You will need a brush for the body and a specific gentle brush for the face. You can’t use a body brush for your face because it is too harsh for delicate facial skin.
I love these brushes from Cecily Braden that come in a set because you can get a special face and body brush.
They are so soft and gentle and feel completely different from regular dry brushes.
These brushes are made to specifically target the lymph system without being harsh or irritating to the skin. They are the best dry brushes I have come across so far!
